Nicole Bijlsma

Nicole Bijlsma is a former naturopath and acupuncturist with 15 years of clinical experience, building biologist, bestselling author, PhD candidate and founder of the Australian College of Environmental Studies. Nicole has published in peer reviewed journals, has written extensively for Body+Soul newspaper, is regularly consulted by the media to discuss electromagnetic fields, mould and toxic chemicals, and lectures in Australia and internationally (USA, New Zealand, Thailand) at medical conferences on environmental medicine. Nicole is undertaking her PhD to develop a tool to rate the health of a home, analyse the impact of radiofrequency electromagnetic field exposure on sleep, and examine the impact of environmental chemicals on human health. Nicole and her husband Mark manufacture the "Abode" cleaning product range and the “It’s Your Body” personal care range which was developed for people with skin and chemical sensitivities.

Katina Benis

Katina trained in natural therapies and the biological sciences (microbiology and biochemistry) before diverting her attention to the esoteric sciences of space clearing, feng shui and geomancy. Her consulting practice attracts a wide range of clients from architecture, interior design, homes and businesses. She is a popular and engaging speaker who is actively involved in the profession having taught the great majority of feng shui consultants in Australia. She has lectured at various tertiary institutions and began teaching at ACES in 2001.


Professor Marc Cohen

PhD, MBBS(Hons), BMedSc(Hons), FAMAC, FICAE

Professor Marc Cohen is a pioneer in Integrative Medicine who, in 2002 became Australia's first Professor and Head of the Department of Complementary Medicine at RMIT University. He is a registered medical practitioner in western medicine, physiology and psychological medicine along with two PhDs (biomedical engineering and Chinese Medicine). He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, authored more than 20 book chapters and leads wellness research within the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University. He is an expert advisor to the college, whose knowledge in the field of chemical and exposure history research, provides an evidence-based approach to the subjects in the Building Biology course.

Lucinda Curran

Lucinda is an experienced building biologist, teacher and Chinese medical practitioner who specialises in environmental sensitivities. Former president of the Australasian Society of Building Biologists, she hosted the Environmental Sensitivities Symposium, in which she interviewed leading researchers around the world on environmental health issues. She is passionate about empowering people around the globe to improve their health by addressing their environment.

David Fox

Affectionately known as the mad professor, David is an expert advisor to the college whose knowledge in the area of electrical engineering provides a unique perspective into the field of electrobiology. Having completed his PhD in engineering at the University of London, David has designed and implemented courses in electronics at various tertiary institutions throughout England and Australia and was instrumental in developing the Electricity Fundamentals subject at ACES.

Vic Ketis

Dip.Feng Shui, Ct Chinese Astrology

Known as the ‘philosopher’, Vic is an expert advisor to the college who has been practicing Feng Shui and Astrology since the early 1980s. Vic has studied and presented lectures in Feng Shui and Western and Chinese astrology in both Australia and abroad including the USA, India and Asia. His accuracy in predicting political and worldly events has made him a popular speaker both at the college and industry events.


Sandy Lynch

Sandy is an accredited Vettrak (student management) and business consultant with extensive experience working with Registered Training Organisations. Her happy demeanor, organisational skills and 'passion' for data entry and knowledge in government requirements (past life was a legal secretary), makes her a very valuable member of our team! Sandy is our student co-ordinator.

Narelle McDonald

Ct IV in Building Biology; Adv. Dip. of Building Biology; CT IV in TAE (currently attaining),
Member ASBB.

Narelle is an experienced Building Biologist & Feng Shui Consultant, former President of the Australasian Society of Building Biologists (ASBB), advisor for the Chemfree Community and founder of Wellness at Home. Specialising in assisting clients who are building and renovating by incorporating Building Biology principles, utilising two decades of experience renovating and building period homes with her husband, working for the Green Building Centre (NSW), and various building design projects with numerous clients around Australia. In light of the housing crisis in Australia, there has never been a more urgent time to understand how to Building Biology principles can benefit in designing healthy homes.

Myree Russell

Myree is an essential part of the ACES team who is an expert in Training and Compliance with Registered Training Organisations. She’s the one who keeps us up to date with our government reporting requirements, our policies and procedures, staff training, industry involvement and course accreditation documentation. She has more than 30 years of experience, in positions of CEO, National RTO Manager, Compliance & Quality Management and Training/Facilitation roles within Enterprises, Private RTOs, Community Not-for-profit organisations, and Government run training organisations.

Raphael Siket

BCommerce, Dip.Building Biology, Ct IV TAE, Member ASBB

Raphael established his building biology business (Ecolibria) in 2006 which conducts Electromagnetic Field Testing and Air Quality Monitoring for the domestic and commercial markets. Clients include the Sydney Opera House (NSW), Alcoa (Western Australia), The Australian Institute of Marine Science (Townsville) and the Frankston City Council (Victoria). Raphael has provided expert witness evidence in court to assist in air quality mediation cases. He is the president of the Australasian Society of Building Biologists and has assisted in the growth of the Building Biology industry as a whole. He has provided training in various subjects at the college since 2007.

Frank Zahra

Licensed Electrical Inspector and Auditor, Electrician, Ct IV TAE.
Member ASBB and Institute of Electrical Inspectors

Frank has been employed in the electrical industry for over 32 years as an electrician and electrical inspector, and is a walking dictionary on all things electrical. Frank is the author of several publications used by trade schools throughout Australia, inventor, auditor, electrical inspector, expert witness for legal cases and has extensive experience lecturing at TAFE institutions. Enduring Electrical Hypersensitivity himself, Frank provides expert advice on how to reduce one’s exposure.
