Our Story

Australian College of Environmental Studies is a registered training organisation (21740) established in 1999 with the aim to create meaningful and profitable careers that enhance the health of the community.

The college was established by Nicole Bijlsma after observing a consistent association between many of her patients with asthma, allergies and chronic fatiguing illnesses with hazards in their homes (mould, toxicants and electromagnetic fields). After experiencing ten miscarriages which began after moving into her first home, she undertook years of informal research and consequently established the healthy home movement (Building Biology) in Australia. This involved enlisting experts in various fields including electromagnetic radiation, industrial hygiene, building and construction, geomancy, HVAC systems (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), sacred space and feng shui, to write the course accreditation documents. Since 2005, ACES is the first and only college to provide nationally accredited training in Building Biology, Mould Testing Technician, Electromagnetic Field Testing Technician and Feng Shui in Australia.
