Why Study With Us?

Why Study With Us?

In 2005, ACES established the first and only nationally accredited Building Biology course in Australia. The course was written in consultation with experts in the field of electromagnetic fields, industrial hygiene, building and construction, architecture, mould remediation and allied health.

The course is specifically geared to working as a professional consultant. Incorporating the latest scientific evidence, the course provides the knowledge of hazards in the built environment and their impact on human health. Using the latest technology and on campus field training in real life scenarios, students gain the skills to identify, test and provide solutions to address health hazards in a building. Health hazards include allergens, lead, methamphetamines, toxicants (man-made chemicals), mould, and  electromagnetic fields (AC magnetic fields and radiofrequencies).

Assessments are specifically designed in consultation with industry (Australasian Society of Building Biologists) to ensure graduates have the knowledge and the skills to work as a competent building biologist, and the necessary templates to be work ready. Assessments include questionnaires, checklists, assignments, essays and reports.

Graduates are eligible to join the Australasian Society of Building Biologists (ASBB).  ACES graduates become part of an active and vibrant association whose aim is to promote the awareness of building biology in Australia, provide reasonable insurance premiums and most importantly, keep building biologists abreast of the latest scientific news pertaining to electromagnetic fields, indoor air quality, allergens, mould and drinking water-related issues.
